According the Learning Forward Ontario's "Collaborative Inquiry: A Facilitator's Guide", collaborative inquiry is a powerful design for professional learning as it recognises the role of teachers in ongoing school improvement. 
  • Katz, Earl, and Ben Jaafar (2009) include collaborative inquiry that ‘challenges thinking and practice’ as a key component in their theory of action for enabling impactful Professional Learning Communities.
  • Stoll (2010) describes collaborative inquiry as a means in which learning communities “deconstruct knowledge throughjoint reflection and analysis, reconstructing it through collaborative action, and co-constructing it through collective learning from their experiences” (Collaborative Inquiry: A Facilitator's Guide)
