Realisations

Picture
I continued to be humbled by the insights shared by my fellow colleagues. I am humbled because it’s interesting to read about the different perspectives you all have and have been experiencing. There were many times where I found myself without words in expressing my thoughts, but once I would read what others had to say I gained greater clarity.
I am thankful for the knowledge gained from all of you and the intriguing questions posed throughout the course by Judy as well. I am excited also how this knowledge will transform and evolve me as an educator. As Bruce Mau had stated, in his ‘Manifesto for Growth’, allow events to change you.

In my first post, I felt that I had a scattered overview of myself as a critical and creative thinker. I had the ideas but I had trouble gathering them together. However, I feel that my past thinking forms who I am today where I have more order in my thought around who I am as a creative and critical thinker. “The true lover of problems must be a lover of order and vise versa.” (Grudin, 14) “You have to see the world differently, move through it differently. You’ve entered a different path. You can’t just leap into the lake of writing in a three-piece-suit. You need a different outfit to swim in.” (Goldberg, xvi) Similarly, I feel that I have gained a different perspective  and approach towards critical and creative thinking

During this course I have realized many things about myself and how I process what creativity and critical thinking is. I feel this will be an ongoing discovery. For my closing metaphor I have chosen a quote from Rumi: "When you feel a peaceful joy, that's when you are near truth"

As I learned I deepen my realization on how learning is a collaborative process. “Human isolation is terrible. We want to connect and figure out what it means...How do we live? What do you think?...We all look for hints, stories, examples.” (Goldberg, xvi) I feel that I need this openness to feel the joy of learning. As I have reflected on my evolving understandings, I feel that I too have come closer to a truer meaning of creativity and critical thinking. However, it’s not to say that it’s an exclusive understanding, but one that will continue to grow and evolve. As Socrates once said, ‘An unexamined life is not worth living.’ I look forward to continue in my journey to learn, examine and living by what I have learned.
